Hawker Hall

Celebrating the Year of the Dragon with Lunar New Year display, Feb 2024.

To celebrate Lunar New Year, the Lucas Group boldly commissioned us to install not one, but two epic dragons across the ceiling at Hawker Hall!

And it certainly was the Year of the Dragon. Spanning a whopping 18 metres each, the dragons seemed to soar through the restaurant. Their cheeky tails could be seen darting over customers while they dined, through all the way to the kitchen.

The brick and timber interior and bold branding worked beautifully with the dragon’s fierce red scales and yellow belly. The head of the epic dragons featured sparkling sequins. The entire 18 metres of the dragon sported a shining, bronze fin along the scales.

In the Lunar New Year tradition, the dragon symbolizes power, strength, and good fortune. So much so, that there are more babies born in the Year of the Dragon than any others, as it is such an auspicious year. The dragon is the only mythical creature of all the animals in the zodiac – making it unique among the 12 creatures.

Tradition reveres the dragon for its auspicious qualities and believes it to bring prosperity and success to those who honour it. We also associate the dragon with wisdom, longevity, and protection, serving as a guardian against malevolent forces. With its mythical status, the dragon embodies the spirit of transformation and renewal, inspiring hope and optimism for the year ahead.
